Truly Free!

The calling of God on our lives is no easy task and to complete it and finish well we will need to apply Hebrews 12:1 that calls on us to “lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race (our calling) that is set before us” by God. In the Movie “The Mission” (a must-see if you haven’t) there is a scene where Robert de Niro, who plays the role of soldier and slave trader and a new convert who had murdered his brother and joined the Jesuits as a novitiate, was climbing up a steep mountain stream on a mission, dragging a large net behind him that contained his armor, helmet, sword, and the symbols of his past life as a self-imposed penance.
